The tunnels of MINOS formed naturally underneath Pwyll Crater. Once the people from Earth arrived to make Europa their new home, the tunnels were converted to be less rocky, and more livable. Now, their original rock is completely hidden by metal plates. The tunnels are very cold as they're closer to the ice than the surface is, and the metal everywhere doesn't help.
